Turtle Gloves Review

I didn’t know what to expect when I received my Turtle Gloves in the mail.  I am one of those runners who absolutely hate cold fingers and toes.  I’ve been known to start out my really cold runs with two pairs of gloves, and I’ve run long miles with two pairs of socks.  I probably have more gloves which are devoted to running than most people own in general.

I’ve never run with this type of glove/mitten hybrid before, so when I received the email stating that I had been chosen as one of the BibRave Pro’s to try them out, I didn’t exactly know how they would fit into my training.  As luck would have it, we were having a warming trend when my gloves arrived, but I live in Kentucky and I only have to wait for a few hours until the weather can take a extreme turn.

When I received the package, the people at Turtle Gloves also sent along a drawstring bag, decal, ballpoint pen, and a koozie — in addition to the gloves.

The first thing I noticed was the ultra-soft feel of the gloves.  The mittens were a little longer than I was used to, but this is due to the extended arm warmer sleeves.  My fingers moved freely within the mitten and didn’t seem as if they would be too uncomfortable once I warmed up on a run.

At the end of a long run, or in the middle of a tough one, any little annoyance can be exaggerated.  If my hands were to become too warm during a run, I would put my gloves in the pockets of my running shorts.  If I was running a race and brought along a cheap pair of gloves, I would just toss them to the side of the course once wearing them became uncomfortable or aggravating.

With Turtle Gloves, there’s no need to stash or throw them away.  When I’ve warmed up or the temperature has increased, Turtle Gloves have a low-bulk, flip-over design which you can wear on either hand.  If your fingers become too cold, just reverse the process and you’ve got your warm hands back.

These gloves were made for this time of year when the weather is unpredictable and can change from warm to freezing within a day’s time, but they would also come in handy during the changing of the seasons.
